Warning: absolutely nothing but random thoughts ahead
I have been reading, actually mostly looking at the pictures, old posts at this blog tonight. It's making me think of snow and winter. I really hope we get some good snow storms this year. I may end up regretting that statement, but probably not. As long as Cameron is home and we have electricity, milk, cocoa, sugar and toilet paper, I say bring it on!
I should be in bed asleep. Kate has a fever and sore throat all of the sudden, so she is on the couch and will probably wake up a few times, but for some (dumb) reason I don't really want to go to sleep yet. Sometimes staying up ridiculously late is the best quiet time I get. I could hear a pin drop. Between Kate and Cameron snoring. :)
Kate had a friend over after church today. It is so much fun to listen to them play when they don't think you are paying attention. It is so amazing the difference a couple of years has made in Kate's personality. She still has her moments of not wanting to talk to people, but over all, she's like a different child. I've probably said it before this year, but it's true.
I wasn't able to get any sewing done last week, but I'm hoping that this week I can. This week shouldn't be near as busy since Callie won't have ballet camp this week.
She loved ballet camp! I knew she would. They had a demonstration for the parents on Friday. I tried to take some pictures, but mostly I just kept getting her back side. She probably doesn't want those on the world wide web! ;)
Ok, I'm going to force myself to go to sleep now.

{This Moment}
{this moment} - A Friday ritual. A single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember.
there's nothing like playing ball in a ballet costume--with two headbands and a side ponytail

Lonely Kate
Callie has ballet camp this week every day for four hours. I knew Kate would really miss her and probably not want to play by herself very much. I called Cameron on Monday and asked him to bring home a kiddie pool. Kate loves to play in the water and I thought that would help.
"Daddy Warbucks" brought this home. I've not heard Kate ask one time, "When will Callie be home?"

It only took a couple of inches of water to get squeals of laughter. For some reason it was great fun to put her head in the water upside down.

Today...
We painted doors and trim and a doll house with primer. I can't get it off of Kate's skin. There's a lot!
We went to the farmer's market in Zionsville.
We ordered a back door. Do you hear the angels singing?
We planted more tomato plants, a pepper plant and some bleeding hearts and Russian sage. Not all in the same bed. :)
Cameron mowed the yard.
We watered the dust, I mean, the flower and garden beds.
I got a package in the mail. This means a hot date with my sewing machine next week. I'm so excited. I've had my eye on this fabric for a long time. This Etsy seller was great, by the way.
Promised myself to enjoy my new chairs tomorrow. Thank the Lord for a day of rest and rejuvenation!

Summer Reading List
So far this summer I've read three totally different types of books. First I heard that several Grace Livingston Hill books were available free on Kindle. I vaguely remembered my mom reading those, so I was curious about them. Since they were free, if I didn't like them, I wouldn't feel like I had to finish.
I downloaded two or three. I started with Cloudy Jewel. I really liked it. It's good Christian fiction. I believe the story took place in the 1920's. It was nice to read a story where the men were chivalrous and the women were not weak at all, but still feminine.
Next was To Kill A Mockingbird. I really enjoyed this book. I definitely want Callie to read this in a couple of years. It was kind of strange in that the first part is so comical and yet the second is so serious. I highly recommend this one if you haven't read it. The movie is very good too.
Loving the Little Years I just finished yesterday. My first thought about this book is that the title is all wrong. I had seen enough quotes and excerpts to know that it might be good for mothers of old children (not adult) and it was. It's a very small book, but the author is very good at painting word pictures to her children to explain further either God's word or her expectations to them. There are also some good reminders to mom's about what our behavior must be regardless of our children'. If you have a couple of days to read through a helpful little book, this would not be a waste of time.
Next I think will be Kisses From Katie. I heard about this young woman several years ago, but had kind of forgotten about it. Then I heard she had written and book and I did something I don't think I've ever done before. I ordered it from Amazon without even checking to see if the library had it. I've read the first few pages and I don't think I will regret this purchase! Callie and I will be reading this one together.

This Week
What I thought was going to be a slow week has turned out to be not so slow.
We have had two weeks of no school work at all and this started our week of summer math. Oh, it's fun! Read into that sentence as much sarcasm as you can. I often, maybe too often, remind Callie when she starts complaining that it's not exactly fun for me either. I'd rather be sewing, reading, even cleaning the toilet as much as she would rather be reading, making a video or watching grass grow.
I have been very proud of us both though, we haven't missed a day yet. Yes, I know it is only Thursday. Trust me. I'm proud of us!
So. Monday morning we did our duties and then Cameron said he wanted us to ride with him to a courthouse in Convington, IN where he had to get some records. A wise friend told me several years ago, when I may have been complaining about not getting anything done at home, not to complain when my husband wanted to spend time with me. So we all road to Covington with Cameron. It's a beautiful drive through that part of Indiana. Very hilly and curvy. We didn't have time to stop and take pictures though. Maybe next time.
Tuesday.....I think was filled with laundry and general cleaning up and some weeding in the garden.
Wednesday we had a doctor appointment for Kate. After more than a year of her "snorting", I decided it was time to go to an ENT. It was quite funny to see his face when he heard her do it while he and I were talking. He said we need to get x-rays of her nasal passage and allergy testing. So we will be starting with the x-ray next Thursday. He said it was dry and crusty inside, as if she had eczema in her nasal cavity.
Today I have been working in the school room/sewing room reorganizing a bit (more). As much as I loved seeing all the pretty fabric folded nicely on the shelves, the afternoon sun is just too bright and was threatening to ruin my fabric. So under the school desk it went and now the bookshelf holds books and school supplies. Not quite as pretty, but that's okay.
Tonight Callie has a 4H meeting and tomorrow I think some friends are coming over to play.
I wonder what next week will be like.
